James Franklin is an entrepreneur, technology consultant and Fractional CTO with a background spanning software development, systems administration, infrastructure, systems architecture and technical leadership. His career has evolved from hands-on technical roles into strategic leadership, while maintaining a strong appreciation for the technical foundations that underpin successful organisations.

Working across consulting, leadership and professional education, James has partnered with business leaders and technical teams to simplify complex ideas, build capability and support informed decision making.

James has a particular interest in emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, startups and ambitious ideas that challenge conventional thinking. Providing strategic technology leadership for an innovative startup, working both remotely and on site. Responsibilities include shaping technology strategy, driving innovation, evaluating emerging technologies and aligning technical initiatives with business objectives, security and long-term growth.

Technology Integration Specialist

Jan 2024 – Mar 2024

Contracted by a leading aerospace organisation to deliver a critical technology integration project. Responsibilities included evaluating system compatibility, developing comprehensive testing and validation plans, and producing detailed technical documentation to ensure the solution met operational, quality and business requirements.

Technical Consultant

2018 – 2023

Delivered consulting services across a broad range of technical projects, working closely with business stakeholders, technical teams and third-party vendors. Responsibilities included infrastructure design, systems integration, network architecture, identity management, cybersecurity, disaster recovery planning and technical documentation, with a focus on delivering practical, secure and scalable solutions.

Server Administrator

2020 – 2021

Administered Linux server environments, performed configuration audits and strengthened security through proactive risk identification and remediation.
